Profile Summary

In my PhD research project, I am looking at the formation of post-colonial subjectivities through the lens of cricket commentaries (print and audio). I am interested in examining if the consumption of cricket in the period of 1960s-1980s led to the formation of hegemonic, masculine, high caste, North Indian subjectivity that might either replace or align with the colonial gentlemanliness associated with colonial cricket. With that, I am also engaging with the literature on the anthropology of sports that focuses simultaneously on the body, bodily alignment, technique, contact, and relatedness.
