Much of the challenge and excitement in pursuing an academic programme in sociology comes from the fact that it demands proficiency in a diverse set of skills. A good training in sociology combines a good theoretical knowledge of the discipline, observational skills, skills of studying the field, and an appreciation of complex societal functioning. At the University, the innovative course structure of the undergraduate programme is designed to provide students with both the requisite breadth and depth when it comes to mastering sociology and social anthropology. Members of our faculty are active researchers, trained at some of the best research universities in the world. In addition, our students take courses and get to interact with faculty across a range of disciplines like History, English and International Relations and Governance Studies, amongst others, thus providing them with a truly interdisciplinary perspective.
